“Sight is a privilege. One I have lost… but for the better. Don’t you agree?”

Roxanne "Rox"/"Rose" was a member of an elite group known as the Beastmaster Guild, which only allowed those with particular talents, notably an affinity for animals and at least slight knowledge of magic.

Rox lived in a time where women were treated… traditionally, more as pets or trophies than people, so understand just how much potential Rox would’ve had to have for her to be noticed. She was easily approaching wild boars and deer in their habitat, and they neither charged her, nor ran away.

On her first ever hunting trip, she ran afoul of a baby dragon (MUCH jumpier animals than the above) and had her eyes gouged from her face and a finger or two missing. She got off easy. As she limped back to the guild and they saw she was now blind—and in their eyes, now less than useless—they cast her out, and rather than return home to her family, she ran into the woods and stayed there, expecting to die in a few days.

Instead, she thrived. There she remained for over a decade, and remains still, a myth to the surrounding areas, an omen of death. A cult was even formed to seek her out and worship her.
